There are 5 daily habits EVERYONE should start doing to optimize their day. These 5 habits are follow a morning routine, read 10+ pages of a book, do 30 minutes of self-care, write positive affirmations, and follow a night routine. Let’s get right into it with…
Follow a Morning Routine
Mornings are tough, which is why we want to make the morning as consistent and brainless as we can. How do we do this? By choosing what you want your morning to look like and making it a habit. Habits are automatic behaviors/actions you make every day. So, essentially once you make your morning routine a habit, you no longer have to think about going to the bathroom to brush your teeth because you’re already on your way to do it, automatically. This creates a consistent and intentional morning. As a result, you’re setting yourself up for success and improving your mood by feeling productive. Read 10+ Pages of a Book
Without a doubt, whether you’re in school or done with classes forever, reading is a great habit to continue doing. If you’re someone that “hates” reading, listen to an audio book instead! You can listen to it while you are driving, doing laundry, or laying in bed at night. Reading stimulates the mind, increases creativity and knowledge, and decreases stress. Also, this is a way better alternative to scrolling social media for hours. Books really aren’t as boring as you might remember in English class. There are so many options: mystery, romantic, science fiction, fantasy, thriller, and (my personal fav) self-help books.
30 Minutes of Self-care
Next, self-care. I love this one because it makes sure you’re making yourself a priority, decreases depression and anxiety, and helps create a work-life balance. I usually add this in during my morning or night time routine depending on how my day looks. Some self-care activities could be going for a walk, doing a face mask, cooking your favorite meal, cleaning your space, doing a hobby, etc.
Journal Positive Affirmations
Undoubtedly, journaling positive affirmations is an underrated habit. It reduces your negative self-talk, increases your self-esteem, and improves your mood. Try to aim for 3-10 affirmations. My personal favorite affirmation to say to myself every day is “I am proud of myself.” Click here to read an extended list of self-affirmations for health, success, beauty, personality, relationships, and anxiety.
Follow a Night Routine
Lastly, following a night time routine creates consistency at night, sets your next day up for success, and improves your sleep schedule. It is important to be intentional with your night. This is a great time to do things like pick out your outfit for the next day, tidy up your room, or wind down watching your favorite show or reading your current book.
